Great North Run - 08/05/2012

The 3rd Annual run set of from Western Perth Alfa Romeo on Saturday with 10 gleaming Alfa Romeo's in attendance. These were from as far afield as Sheffield and Walsall, and Ellon north of Aberdeen. After the teas, coffees and introductions they all set off for lunch in Crieff at Delivino's.  

A quick stretch of the legs and coffee stop at The Rest and be Thankful allowed time for a quick photo opportunity. Then it was a small run over to the Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa at Inveraray.

After a freshen up and some refreshments at the bar it was time for the evening meal and the 1st of many presentations.

13 year old Ryan Kennedy who was along with his father Paul, received a remote control MiTo and a model as well. The look on his face at receiving his "1st Alfa Romeo" said it all!! One very happy junior Alfisti!!  

Sunday brought more beautiful sunshine and a trip over to Easdale, a small island south of Oban. A quick stop at Cairnbaan for coffee and to watch a couple of yachts climbing up the canal as well en route all added to the enjoyment. Easdale was basking in sunshine, and a very enjoyable lunch was had in the Oyster Bar looking onto the old slate quarry.  

Back to Inveraray via Oban and Taynault for another fine evening meal and more prizegiving.  

Furthest travelled was shared between Darren Careless with wife Julia and Graeme Clark with partner Joanne who had come from Walsall and Sheffield respectively!!  

Worst navigational skills went to Stuart and Pauline Insch from Ellon, who frequently took a wrong turn! All good fun though.  

Monday came around all too quick, and it was time to wave off our new found English friends. A quick tour of the famous Inveraray Jail followed by superb lunch at The Village Inn at Arrochar finished off what will be a long remembered weekend. Great people, food, scenery, driving and to top it off 10 fantastic Alfa Romeo's from a 1985 Alfetta GTV6, 2 916 Spiders, a 916 GTV, a GT, 2 MiTo's and then bang up to date with 3 Giulietta's
